Scholarships FAQ

How do I apply?

If you meet eligibility requirements you can submit an online application when it opens on February 13th, 2024 at 9 am PST.

 

What is the deadline to apply?

All scholarships are open to apply between February 13th and March 31st at 11:59 PM PST.

 

Can I apply for multiple scholarships?

Applicants may apply for only 1  Live Nation scholarship (Live Nation, Tiffany Green, Steven J. Finkle), as well as an Inherit the Music (David E. Ballard) scholarship, or Governors Ball scholarship, if eligibility requirements are met for each opportunity. (Up to 3 total)

 

Are the scholarships exclusive to schools or students in the US?

Applicants must be permanently residing in the US and attending an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree related to the requirements of the selected scholarship.

 

Who can I contact if I have more questions about the scholarship?

When will I be notified about my scholarship status?

All applicants will be notified between June 1st – June 30th.

 

How will I be notified if I am awarded a scholarship?

Once the review is complete, awardees will be notified by phone and e-mail.

 

I am not receiving notifications from my submittable account

Applicants and References must whitelist notifications@email.submittable.com in their inbox to receive essential communications related to the scholarship application process. 

 

What information will I need to provide if selected to receive a scholarship?

Awardee must provide a copy of official transcripts through the spring semester and proof of enrollment in the upcoming fall semester before funds are dispersed. Additionally, awardees will be asked to provide a high–resolution headshot photo and a statement to be used in Music Forward scholarship announcements and general marketing materials.

 

Who should I ask to provide a recommendation in support of my application?

An instructor, supervisor, or administrator who can speak well to your abilities as they relate to your pursuit of a career in the music industry. Remember that recommendations are part of the weighted score of your application. Live Nation and Music Forward Foundation staff can NOT provide a recommendation. Recommendations are part of the scoring process, please choose wisely.

 

My recommender did not receive a request to submit a letter in support of my application.

Requests for recommendations will be sent directly through the application portal. Before submitting your application, ask your recommender to white-list Submittable on the e-mail account you will be providing in your application. Please direct your recommender to check junk or spam mail folders. Direct additional questions to scholarships@musicforwardfoundation.org

 

How will I know if my recommender submitted my letter of recommendation?

Submittable will notify you via e-mail when a letter of recommendation has been completed on your behalf. You can also log into your Submittable account and view your message activity to confirm receipt of recommendations.

Recommenders will have until April 12th at 11:59 pm PST to submit letters of recommendation.

 

My recommender can no longer submit a letter of recommendation on my behalf, can I substitute them for another?

Yes, please email scholarships@musicforwardfoundation.org with this concern. Once contacted, Music Forward will open your editing application and you can update the recommendation section of your application.

 

I am a graduate student. Am I eligible to apply?

Students must be enrolled as an undergraduate student to be eligible. The only exception would be if you are enrolled in a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program.

 

I am not a traditional student. Am I eligible to apply?

Non-traditional students pursuing a career in the music industry are invited to apply for scholarship opportunities if they meet all other eligibility requirements.

 

Available Scholarships

Music Forward, in partnership with Live Nation, Inherit the Music, and Governors Ball, is proud to be able to provide financial support to undergraduate students with a declared major pursuing a career in the music & live entertainment. Scholarships have been a part of Music Forward’s programs since our inception. The newest iteration of the program, established in 2016, has grown to 5 scholarships awarded annually totaling $50,000. Our scholarship program is one of the few that are specifically designed to support students interested in the core aspects of the concert business.
